Work on Merlin Progresses and goes distributed
One of the key components of op5 Monitor 5 is the Merlin Module, an open source project developed and maintained by op5 and Andreas Ericsson. Merlin is a Module for Effortless Redundancy and Loadbalancing In Nagios, and the goal is to use it for setting up distributed op5/Nagios installations and allowing Nagios processes to exchange information directly. op5s acclaimed network monitoring software op5 Monitor is getting a hughe overhaul in the up coming 5.0 release. A brand new PHP GUI based on the Ninja project and the database backend from the Merlin project. Continue reading

Merlin development has really kicked off. Single-server database support is in production at all our customers (all 350 or so of them), and people in the community have started using it for production use in a distributed environment. Continue reading

We have set up a community Wiki on our community site to make it possible for the community to add and change the documentation of op5s open source projects Ninja, an new PHP frontend for Nagios, Merlin, an event handler and Nacoma an nagios coniguration manager. Continue reading

Merlin 0.5 beta released today
Merlin, or Module for Effortless Redundancy and Load balancing In Nagios, has reached beta stage! The Merlin project was initially started to create an easy way to set up distributed Nagios installations, allowing Nagios processes to exchange information directly as an alternative to the standard nagios way using NSCA.
